THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala’s prestigous Grand Kerala Shopping Festival (GKSF) moved into focus well before the commencement of the event scheduled from December 1, as a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for title partnership was formally signed with South Indian Bank, the sponsor of the fifth season.Addressing a press meet organised to ink the MoU, Tourism Minister A P Anil Kumar called for efforts to rope in participation of more people in the initiative, banking on the strength of the GKSF team and the sponsor, apart from media support.“The event will turn into a real success only when people’s participation is profound. The festival should be able to attract people in hordes from other states as well,” he said.GKSF director Dr Rethan Kelkar said that plans had been drawn up meticulously to make the event a big success. “It is being viewed with great enthusiasm from even outside,” he pointed out.SIB Executive Director Abraham Tharyan said that the event could definitely cash in on the strengths of the state being a consumer state and also being held during the tourist season.Industries director T O Sooraj also addressed the session. K-BIP CEO V Rajagopal was present. GKSF State coordinator V Vijayan welcomed the gathering and SIB assistant general manager Nandagopal proposed a vote of thanks.
