Governor K Rosaiah on Saturday urged the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), guarding vital government installations in the country, to adopt the latest security techniques, devices and methods to train its personnel.
Addressing the passing out parade of the second batch of Assistant Sub-Inspector Executives at the Regional Training Centre in Arakkonam, he said, “It is imperative that the training institutions, which are moulding the selected young civilians into energetic soldiers, adopt to latest security techniques, devices and methods and to impart the highest order of knowledge and skills.”
He said the biggest threat to stability and growth of the country was from terrorism and it should be nipped in the bud. “Our nation’s vital installations are of high importance. They require highest order of security cover and constant vigil,” Rosaiah added.
The Special Director General (Airport Sector) of CISF, Arun Chaudhary, said that the Force, with a strength of 21,000 personnel, was safeguarding 59 airports in the country and there were no untoward incidents since it took charge of the airports.
“After the hijack of IC 814, Government of India took a conscious decision to introduce CISF into the aviation sector. Ever since the CISF took over aviation security, there were no untoward incidents till date,” he said.
Four units of CISF were presently providing security cover for private establishments like Infysos in Bangalore and Mysore and Reliance Refinery in Jamnagar, said Chaudhary.
A total of 458 Assistant Sub-Inspectors Executive, including 24 women, took the oath of allegiance on the occasion after 45 days of rigorous training.
Besides the passing out parade ceremony, five other candidates, Vimlesh Kanvar (all round best), Chandan Kumar Mishra (best in outdoor), Hiranya Baruah (best in indoor), Ankur Kumar (best in firing) and Lingam Yanath Kumar (best parade commander award), were awarded by the governor Rosaiah, in appreciation of their performance during the training period.
