New Delhi: The ministry of culture is planning to build three museums in Uttar Pradesh and two in Delhi to showcase the “heritage and glories of India”.
Minister of culture Dr Mahesh Sharma said that of the three planned museums in UP, the one in Allahabad will be dedicated to Kumbh mela, the second in Ayodhaya will be on Lord Ram and the third in Gorakhpur will highlight its local and regional history. He said that he had met UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath recently to discuss the proposal.
The two museums planned in Delhi will be dedicated to Subhash Chandra Bose. The ministry is also planning exhibitions to celebrate some prominent leaders and writers from the pages of history, including Sardar Vallabhai Patel, SP Mookerjee and Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay.
Sharma said that currently, there is no presence of Bose in the capital and the government wants to correct that.
“We are in talks with Delhi Development Authority for land to build a permanent museum on Bose. If that doesn’t work out, we will use the 24 acre land of IGNCA for this purpose. There will be a museum exhibition of Bose at Red Fort as well,” he said, adding that an exhibition museum of Sardar Vallabhahi Patel at Red Fort would also be set up.
He further emphasized that there is a pressing need to reconnect people, especially the youth with their indigenous culture, its multi-faceted nature, magnificence, opulence and historical importance.
There are also plans to have permanent digital exhibitions of the founder of Bharatiya Jana Sangh, SP Mookerjee and Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay whose notable works are Anandmath, Vande Matram among others at Belvedere House in Kolkata.
Further, the government has got good response for the project of Cultural Mapping of India, the ministry’s talent hunt plan started in the memory of Deen Dayal Upadhyaya. So far 1 crore youth have got themselves registered and the government is expecting to get 2 crore more registrations.
