Lucknow: Agitated farmers of Greater Noida would hold a maha-panchayat on Monday at Ghori Bacheri village to chalk out their strategy against the police firing at the village on August 13, Four farmers died in the firing.
The proposed maha-panchayat would be held at the Inter college ground, where farmers' leaders from adjoining Haryana, Rajasthan, Punjab and western parts of the Uttar Pradesh would also participate, claimed All India Kisan Sangharsh Samiti national joint coordinator Prem Singh Ghalawat.
Addressing a press conference in Lucknow, Ghalawat said the situation in the area was 'explosive' and the farmers were ready for a do or die battle against the government for getting adequate compensation their acquired land.
Ghalawat personally visited the village on Saturday and is expected to attend the maha-panchayat on Monday.
''Undeclared curfew like situation prevails in Ghori Bacheri village, where the farmers were harrassed by the police,'' he added.
Meanwhile, the Samiti has decided to observe 'jail bharo programme' in the state against the Greater Noida police firing on August 20. This day the entire country would observe a day-long strike against the price hike of essential commodities, sponsored by the Left Parties and Trade union organistions.
