HYDERABAD:  The Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board in coordination with the National Green Corps and the Jawahar Bal Bhavan on Monday inaugurated a five-day programme of competitions for schoolchildren aged between five and 15 in the city.About 400 children are expected to participate in the competitions. On the first day, students took part in the painting/drawing and essay competitions. The five-day programme is being conducted ahead of the World Environment Day on June 5 to increase awareness among children. This year, the theme of the Environment Day is “Green Economy: Does it include you?”“In the five-day programme, painting, essay competition, quiz on environmental issues, elocution in English and Telugu would be conducted,” informed WG Prasanna Kumar, director of the National Green Corps.The participants will be given certificates. The winners will be given certificates and prizes on June 5 by  by chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and forest, environment, science and technology minister Satrucharla Vijayaramaraju, at a function to be held at the Jubilee Hall, Public Gardens.
