Half a dozen countries participate in International Bhojpuri Mahotsav
Noted personalities from within the country and abroad, including mathematician Vashists Narayan Singh, folk singers Malini Awasthi and Manoj Tiwari, were awarded on Sunday for bringing good name to Bhojpuri around the world.  The award was given at International Bhojpuri Mahotsav in which representatives from nearly half a dozen countries, including England, Australia and Mauritius, participated.

Noted personalities from within the country and abroad, including mathematician Vashists Narayan Singh, folk singers Malini Awasthi and Manoj Tiwari, were awarded on Sunday for bringing good name to Bhojpuri around the world.  The award was given at International Bhojpuri Mahotsav in which representatives from nearly half a dozen countries, including England, Australia and Mauritius, participated.

Members from Mauritius, England, Oman, Nepal, Singapore and Australia had assembled in Patna for the festival that was inaugurated by Governor D Y Patil.  The festival is part of completion of 35 years of establishment of Bhojpuri Academy by the Bihar government for the promotion of Bhojpuri language and culture.

Highlighting richness of the language, Chairman of Bhojpuri Academy R K Dubey said more than 25 crore people in 20 countries speak Bhojpuri. Famous Bhojpuri singers Malini Awasthi, Manoj Tiwari and Mauritius famous singer and actor Devi Risal regaled the audience with their performance.
