BHUBANESWAR: Traditional embroidery works of Kutch and Bhuj region in Gujarat are a special attraction at the state-level handicraft exhibition being held at the Exhibition Ground here.Artisans from 17 states have put up stalls at the 10-day exhibition being organised by the Voluntary Health Association of India (VHAI) in collaboration with the Ministry of Textiles and Development Commissioner, Handicrafts (DCH). Special glass utility and decorative items from Delhi are also drawing crowd. Also available are straw craft from Dhenkanal and applique work. Ceramic craft from Uttar Pradesh and leather from Andhra Pradesh are an added attraction. What sets the exhibition apart is that the craftsmen are not being charged for setting up stalls here. The organisers have put up food stalls dishing out traditional cuisine like ‘malpoa’ and ‘dahi bara’. “The first day’s revenue was ` 1.5 lakh and it increased to ` 2.55 lakh, the following day,” said VHAI programme coordinator Bipin Sahoo. The programme was inaugurated by City Mayor Ananta Narayana Jena. The exhibition is on till March 14.
