Jind: Hundreds of people , VVIP security, black commandos and chants of 'Modi, Modi', this is just a glimpse of what the scene is like at Prime Minister Narendra Modi's election rallies.
Ranging from all age groups, from women to men to children, the Pandu Pandara village ground in Jind witnessed a swarm of people eager to listen to Modi when he flew down to address a Bharatiya Janata Party rally in Haryana.
While it is hard to decipher the mood of the people over which way their votes will swing on October 15, support in the form of chants could be heard from all quarters of the rally ground. As soon as the PM's chopper was seen in the sky, all that was heard were the cheers in favour of Modi.
The chants of "Dekho dekho kaun aaya, Bharat maa ka sher aaya" and "har har Modi, ghar ghar Modi" were just two out of the hundreds of slogans that were crafted for the PM.
It was not just in speeches that praises for Modi was seen, poems too, were recited from the stage. "Modi is the pride of the country, Modi is kindness not anger (Modi desh ke gaurav hai abhimaan hai, Modi daya hai krodh nahi hai jagwalo)," sang a BJP worker from the stage building up the environment for the rally.
"You will find Modi working for the country, you will find Modi serving the Ganga (Modi milega bharat maa ki seva mein, Modi milega Ganga maa ki seva mein," he added.
In what could be called an extremely well organised rally at Jind, BJP leaders, workers and supporters left no stone unturned to show their strength by participating in huge numbers. Apart from BJP's Jind candidate Surendra Singh Banwal, party candidates from Narnaud Captain Abhimanyu, Uchana candidate Premlata, Safidon candidate Dr Vandana Sharma were some of those present at the event.
All BJP leaders, party workers and the sitting MLAs alike, exuded confidence that the majority that the party attained in the Lok Sabha polls will be repeated yet again in the assembly polls in the state.
However, murmurs too were loud heard that the despite the PM's presence and huge rallies and public meetings by the BJP, the Indian National Lok Dal will steal the show when the state goes to vote.
Some though said that Uchana candidate Premlata is the only one who holds a chance from the Jind district which sends five MLAs to the Vidhan Sabha. She is up against former chief minister Om Prakash Chautala's grandson Dushyant Chautala from INLD.
The BJP leaders, at the rally, did not miss a chance to take jibes at the INLD claiming that the party's chief Chautala has been oblivious towards the wishes of the people. "When people demanded that the walls of the graveyard should be made stronger, he mocked the demand asking whether ghosts would run away if the walls are weak. Such was his callousness," a BJP leader remarked.
While shots and volleys kept coming from one and all, there was something else too that kept the BJP workers busy. Echoing Modi's 'Clean India' campaign, several party workers kept collecting empty bottles and packets throughout the rally from the ground to ensure that it remains spic and span.
Whether or not the PM's campaign has an impact throughout the country, there is a hope that his own party workers follow the suit and contribute their bit in keeping India clean, politically too.
