Hyderabad: Even before the onset of peak summer, 37 heat-related deaths were reported in various districts of Andhra Pradesh. Hospitals have been receiving large number of heat stroke patients. The government however, putting the death toll at 12, claims not all deaths were due to the heat wave.
Both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh governments are implementing action plans to prevent heat-stroke deaths in coming summer. This comes after the High Court's direction to take preventive measures against heat-stroke related cases.
MET department has warned of above normal temperatures in 2016, Central and Northwest India will see heat wave conditions soon.
