Heavy Rainfall Likely In Mumbai, Thane Today, Assam's Flood Situation Improving | Weather Updates
The IMD has issued a yellow alert for Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, and Nashik districts.

Maharashtra has been experiencing heavy rainfall for the past couple of days, and intense rainfall is expected to continue as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted more showers at isolated places across the state.

Meanwhile, the weather forecasting department said heavy spells of rain is very likely to occur at isolated places over Mumbai, Mumbai Suburban, Sindhudurg, Thane in the next three hours.

IMD Predicts Heavy Rains In Maharashtra, Schools Shut In Goa

  • According to IMD, extreme rains will hit isolated parts of Maharashtra on July 15 and 16. The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, and Nashik districts, forecasting heavy rainfall with thunderstorms and gusty winds.
  • IMD has also issued an Orange alert for Pune and a red alert for Ratnagiri district. Heavy rains are expected to lash Konkan & Goa and the Ghat areas of Madhya during the next two days.
  • The Goa education department has declared a holiday for schools on Monday, July 15, due to heavy rain in the coastal state.

Heavy Rains To Lash Kerala, Karnataka

  • According to IMD, intense rainfall is likely over Coastal Karnataka, South Interior Karnataka, Kerala, and Mahe on July 15.
  • IMD has issued a red alert for Malappuram, Kannur, and Kasaragod in Kerala for Monday, and an orange alert for Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Kozhikode, and Wayanad districts.
  • Kerala has declared a holiday in schools and colleges across six districts for July 15 due to heavy rain and thunderstorm warnings.

Flood Situation Improves In Assam

The flood situation in Assam continued to improve significantly on Monday as the water level has been receding fast from different parts of the state, officials said.

  • The India Meteorological Department’s Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) in Guwahati has also not issued any warning except predicting some rains in Barak valley and a few districts of central Assam.
  • Meanwhile, a report by Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) on Sunday night said that one person each died in Karimganj and Nilambazar revenue circles of Karimganj district.
  • With this, the total number of people losing their lives in this year’s flood, landslide, storm and lightning has increased to 109.
  • The report said more than 5,97,600 people are hit due to flood in Cachar, Chirang, Darrang, Dhemaji, Dhubri, Dibrugarh, Goalpara, Golaghat, Jorhat, Kamrup, Kamrup Metropolitan, Karimganj, Majuli, Morigaon, Nagaon, Nalbari and Sivasagar districts.
