Mumbai: An altercation over washing laundry got really dirty, when the husband of a woman, who had been abused by a neighbour, thrashed the latter severely, leading to his death.
Mankhurd police arrested Santosh Kisan Vajirkar (30) on Sunday for causing the death of Sandeep Jagannath Bansode (29). The incident took place at Lallubhai Compound Building, 12, Mankhurd. On May 11, Sandeep abused and scolded Santosh's wife in the morning as he was disturbed by the noise of her washing clothes. When Santosh came home from office, his wife narrated the incident to him.
An angry Santosh went to Sandeep's house, pulled him out, and clobbered him. The victim later started experiencing abdominal pain. When he was unable to bear the agony, on Saturday, around 10 pm, Sandeep was rushed to Shatabdi Hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.
Shankar Singh Rajput, senior police inspector from Mankhurd, said, “On Friday, Santosh beat up his neighbour Sandeep outside his house. The latter started suffering acute pain in his abdomen. He was taken to Shatabdi Hospital the next day, but was declared brought dead.”
He added, "We arrested Santosh under sections 304(2) (causing death without intention to kill) and 452 (house-trespass after preparation for hurt, assault) of IPC." Sandeep, the deceased, who was a labourer, stayed on the second floor with his mother and wife, and was reportedly a habitual drinker. Santosh works in a private firm and lives on the third floor of the same building.
