New Delhi: Indian health authorities on Tuesday said the 23-year-old Hyderabad resident, who was detected with influenza A (H1N1) on his arrival from the US, has been found symptom free.
"The passenger who had tested positive for the Swine flu is presently symptom free and recovering," a statement issued said. He was the first positive case of the influenza in India.
The Health Ministry officials said the two people, who had come in contact with him, were found to be negative for the influenza.
"The two were admitted to a hospital," the official said.
The official said one passenger, who disembarked at the Delhi airport, with suspected symptoms has been referred to a health facility.
Health screening of passengers coming from affected countries continues at 21 airports in the country.
Till Tuesday, 36,678 passengers had been screened. "Around 13,920 passengers were from the affected countries," it said.
A total of 224 doctors and 91 paramedics have been deployed to man the 76 counters at these airports.
According to the World Health Organisation, 40 countries have officially reported 9,830 cases of influenza A(H1N1) infection, including 79 deaths.
