THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) team, which studied the health issues caused by endosulfan usage in Kasargod villages, has recommended restriction in the use of endosulfan in Kerala and Karnataka.The report which rules out a national ban on endosulfan was submitted to the Supreme Court on Thursday. The major finding of the study is that out of the 489 victims who were monitored by the team, only 15 had been found with maximum residue effect of endosulfan.Sources said the study recommended further investigation to find out the exact reason for high morbidity rate in the area.According to the study, 31 different conditions of ill-health of which 11 including liver and kidney diseases have been identified by the scientists.
