Panaji: Director Paresh Mokashi's 'Elizabeth Ekadashi' stirred up controversy a few days back when a right wing organisation found its title objectionable and alleged that it was sending out a wrong message to the masses.
Upset with its offensive name, the Hindu Janjagruti Samiti (HJS) had also demanded the withdrawal of Paresh's popular films from IFFI's Indian Panorama section. But the organisers at the 45th edition of IFFI ignored the proposition and decided to screen the film.
While many filmmakers court controversies to get attention for their films, Paresh Mokashi doesn't believe in using such strategies to create buzz for his projects.
When we asked him about the controversy 'Elizabeth Ekadashi' was recently embroiled into, he said, "Controversy? There is no controversy. I got to know about what happened recently only when I landed in Goa. So I really don't know who started it. For me, this is non issue. My film has already been released in Maharashtra and continues to draw huge crowds. I don't need controversies to sell the film."
