NELLORE: Telugu Desam Party (TDP) president N Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday said all the irrigation projects in the state could be completed if ill-gotten money was recovered from YSR Congress chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and YSRCP Nellore candidate Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy.Addressing party workers in Narawada as part of his byelection campaign for Nellore Lok Sabha seat, Naidu alleged that Jagan amassed crores through illegal means. Mekapati brothers too occupied 200 acres of assigned lands worth crores of rupees in Nelatur in Udayagiri mandal. If the assets of Jagan and Mekapati brothers were seized by the government, they would be sufficient to meet the expenditure for construction of all irrigation projects in the state, Naidu said.Naidu exuded confidence that the TDP candidate would win the Nellore Lok Sabha seat. Continuing his tirade against YSRCP, Naidu said Jagan was behind Bhanu Kiran, the main accused in Suri murder case, and Pulivendula was the centre for supply of illegal weapons. Sakshi newspaper could not get immunity under freedom of press as it was established with illegal money. “Those newspapers established with ill-gotten money cannot survive for long,” Naidu said.Whatever development happened in the district on irrigation front was only during the TDP regime. During YSR regime, the Dalits were given peanuts in the name of welfare and a major portion of the State’s budget was pocketed by the Congress leaders, including the YSR family, Naidu alleged. Later, he organised road-shows in Varikuntapadu, Duttaluru and Vinjamuru.
