Mancherial district in Telangana is in the news for being the perfect place for spotting a massive number of mango groves. Mango groves mean mango trees planted in such numbers that they preclude or when fully grown are likely to preclude the land on. According to Local 18 Telangana, mango plantations have been established in the villages of this district for a few decades. These villages include Nennal, Nandulapalli, Ghanapuram and Awadam. Other villages include Pegadapalle, Bhimaram and Kistampet, in Chinnur. The whole Mancherial district is replete with not one or two, but many varieties of mango trees. The farmers in this region have mango plantations ranging from 1 or 2 acres to 10 or 20 acres.
The mangoes cultivated in these regions are renowned for their luscious taste. Due to this, a massive surge was seen in these fruits in the market. The farmers hailing from these areas of Telangana sell the produce to the markets in Hyderabad, Nagpur and other cities. The sale of these fruits has witnessed an upward trend locally as well. Some of the varieties of mangoes which are highly popular amongst the public are- Banganapalli, Dasheri, Totapuri etc.
Some families in the Mancherial district have been cultivating mangoes for generations. Other mango plantation owners have moved to other parts of the country and abroad. They have entrusted the responsibility of their orchards to their trusted ones and keep visiting them from time to time. More mango plantations are found in this area compared to any other region in the Adilabad district.
Despite these facilities, the mango farmers face the problem of no markets in their area for selling the produce. It makes selling their massive mango produce and earning a daunting task. Farmers want that a market for the sale of mangoes should be established in their area. In this way, they do not have to travel long distances to sell their farm produce. It would also save enormous time and effort in covering such distances, as well.
