India, Pakistan exchange list of nuclear facilities
This is the 22nd consecutive exchange of such lists between the two countries, the first one having taken place January 1, 1992.

New Delhi: India and Pakistan on Tuesday exchanged a list of their nuclear facilities and their nationals lodged in each others' jails.

This is the 22nd consecutive year of exchange of lists of nuclear facilities and was held simultaneously here and at Islamabad, a statement from the ministry of external affairs here said.

The lists are covered under the Agreement on the Prohibition of Attack Against Nuclear Installations and Facilities between the two countries.

The agreement was signed Dec 31, 1988 and entered into force on Jan 27, 1991. It provides, inter alia, that the two countries inform each other of nuclear installations and facilities to be covered under the agreement on the first of January of every calendar year.

This is the 22nd consecutive exchange of such lists between the two countries, the first one having taken place January 1, 1992.

"The two countries also exchanged a list of nationals of each country lodged in others' jails, consistent with the provisions of the Agreement on Consular Access between India and Pakistan," the statement said.

The agreement which was signed May 21, 2008 provides that a comprehensive list of nationals of each country lodged in others' jails has to be exchanged twice each year, on January 1 and July 1.
