‘Exercise Nomadic Elephant 2012’, a series of defence cooperation exercises between the Indian Army and the Mongolian Army began in Belgaum on Monday.
The 10-day exercise involves a series of joint training which started in 2004. It would be the eighth Indo-Mongolia Joint Training, a press release issued by the defence department stated.
The training is aimed at modernising the Mongolian defence establishment, train their defence personnel for serving in UN Peacekeeping Force in conflict areas and enhance interoperability between the two armies while carrying out counter insurgency/counter terrorism operations during peace keeping operations under UN mandate, any where in world, the release said.
