Indrani Mukerjea critical; next 48 hours crucial: Mumbai hospital
Indrani was rushed to JJ hospital from Arthur-road jail on Friday afternoon in an unconscious condition after she allegedly overdosed on anti-epileptic pills.

In a dramatic twist in the Sheena Bora murder case, the prime accused Indrani Mukerjea's condition is critical and next 48 hours are very crucial for her.

The JJ Hospital in Mumbai has said that Indrani is not out of danger yet and her condition remains critical but stable. "Blood samples have been sent for examination. Indrani is in deep sleep. Suffering from depressed respiration. She is critical but stable," JJ Hospital Dean TP Lahane said.

She's been in hospital for almost 24 hours now and the initial medical examination rules out poisoning. Sources in the prison department said that Indrani complained of uneasiness at 6 AM on Friday and collapsed after some time. The doctors in the prison failed to revive her and she was brought to JJ hospital.

Meanwhile, sources in the Forensic department said that no chemical substance has been found in Indrani. The department has also ruled out drug abuse.

Indrani was rushed to JJ hospital from Arthur-road jail on Friday afternoon in an unconscious condition after she allegedly overdosed on anti-epileptic pills.

Indrani, wife of media baron Peter Mukerjea, was arrested by Khar police on August 25 for her alleged role in the murder of Sheena, her daughter from an earlier marriage, in 2012.

Sheena, 24, daughter of Indrani, was allegedly kidnapped from outside National College in Bandra and strangled to death in a car by Indrani, her former second husband Sanjeev Khanna and driver Shyamvar Rai.

On Friday, Maharashtra Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis has ordered an inquiry into the circumstances leading to the hospitalisation of Indrani.

The probe will cover all angles including lapses on the part of the authorities at the Byculla women jail, where she was lodged under judicial custody.

The inquiry will also find out if she had accumulated pills beyond the prescribed numbers, and. if so, how this happened.
