BANGALORE: The Subramanyapura police have arrested five people including a couple, who allegedly tried to kill their son-in-law for divorcing their daughter.The accused have been identified as Manjunath (24), Palani Kumar (20), Kempanna (51), his wife Rathnamma (45), all residents of Audugodi, and L Balakrishna (38), a resident of Gottigere. They are alleged of attacking Ananth, Kempanna and Rathnamma’s son-in-law.According to the police, the accused had attacked Ananth while he was walking near Sai Baba temple at Konanakunte on August 1. Ananth sustained serious injuries in the attack and has been hospitalised. Based on a complaint filed by him, the police arrested the five miscreants . In 2007, Ananth had married the couple’s daughter Kavitha and had divorced after a marital discord. Earlier Attack Attempt in 2009“This was not the first time the accused tried to kill Ananth. Even in 2009, the accused had attempted to kill him by throwing acid in Thalaghattapura police limits. The police had also arrested them in connection with the case. However, after they came out of prison on bail, they have again attempted to murder Ananth,” the police added. Subramanyapura police have registered a case and are further investigating.
