HYDERABAD: Before going to jail, Jagan aide V Vijay Sai Reddy reportedly made the state coffers "richer" by about Rs1 lakh. The vicechairman of Jagathi Publications Private Ltd, who had been provided security cover by the government paid the user charges for January, little knowing he would be behind bars. Sources told Express that Vijay Sai Reddy had submitted a representation to the additional directorgeneral of police (Intelligence) M Mahendar Reddy in the second week of September 2011, seeking security cover for himself. In his letter, he stated he was "apprehending threat" to his life from TDP and Congress leaders, who he claimed were bent on damaging the image of the former late chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy.Following this, the Intelligence chief referred the matter to his subordinates to prepare a Threat Perception Report. It is learnt that Vijay Sai persuaded some police officials with whom he had a good rapport, to allot him security. Subsequently, he was provided 4 (2+2) personal security officers drawn from the City Security Wing of police in October. The user charges for each PSO is `24,000 and for four PSOs, the monthly charges come to `96,000. Sources said Vijay Sai Reddy perhaps had no inkling that he will be arrested and therefore paid `96,000 before January 1 to continue with the security cover for rest of the month.
