New Delhi: Jeev Milkha Singh's dreams of laying his hands on the WGC-CA Championship title didn't materialise but his fourth place finish in the tournament not only takes him closer to the top 20 rankings, but will also boost his confidence ahead of the US Masters.
The ace Indian golfer has registered four victories around the globe in the last 12 months and had no doubts he could add his first PGA title in his kitty as well.
In Doral WGC-CA Championship on Sunday, Jeev began the fourth round with a lot of confidence but just when things were looking good, he had bogeys on the fourth and the eighth.
He finished fourth with a score of two under 70 but will take the confidence to the US Masters.
"I am confident that I am going to have a good showing and I think it's all good to come down to how you think, how you are with your game and how you are feeling mentally. But I am confident that I am going to have a good showing and if the golfing gods are looking out for me then hopefully I will have a major under my belt," Jeev had said a few days ago.
"I think I have played enough Majors now and I have played with top players and seen them do it. I feel that if they have done it why not me. I have seen their game and played with them week in week out and I feel have got the same. So why not me," said Jeev.
The performance makes him richer by $360,000 and also takes him closer to his target of securing a full card for the PGA tour for 2010.
But that is not his only aim.
"My goal is to get into top 20 by 2009 December. I feel I have the game, I have the confidence right now and if I get that done I will be happy. After 2009 December I have another goal for myself," he added.
A few more performances like the one at WGC-CA Championship might take him to this target even before the year ends.
