Ranchi: Jharkhand government on Tuesday announced Rs 10 lakh as compensation to the family of Special Branch officer Francis Indewar who was killed by the banned Communist Party of India (Maoist).
''Apart from compensation, the insurance claim of about Rs 11 lakh and job to a family member will also be given,'' Jharkhand Home Secretary JB Tubid said in Ranchi.
Tubid said the government would also bear the education expenditure of his children.
The beheaded body of Indewar, abducted from Hembrom market under Arki police station in Naxal dominated Khunti district on September 30, was recovered on Tuesday from Raisa ghati under Namkom police station.
The Maoists owning the responsibility of killing Francis had demanded release of their top-rung leaders like Kobad Ghandy, Chhatradhar Mahto and Bhushan Yadav against the life of the police officer.
