GURUVARUYUR: Kapilopadesam is one of the most significant pieces of advice of the Supreme Lord to the humanity at large as Kapilamoothry enunciates in it the most simple and easy way for attaining the lotus feet of the Lord through unalloyed Bhakthi. All pieces of advice given by the Lord in the Srimad Bhagavatham are equally significant to be practised by the devotees in their daily life. But the Kapilopadesam stands in a class of its own as it was given by the Lord to his mother Devahoothy. Kapilamoorthy explains in simple way the expositions on the various complex and vexatious queries raised by His mother Devahoothy. It is a piece of advice to all, especially women, of all ages, Bhagavatha scholar Thottam Vasudevan Nampoothiry said while giving a discourse on the Kapilopadesam at the Sree Krishna temple here on Tuesday morning, the second day of the fourth and the last Srimad Bhagavatha Sapthaham of this year’s Vaisakha month.‘’The total surrender of all actions (Karmas) at the feet of the supreme Lord will enable the devotees to control all the five senses (Panchendriyams). This surrender with total ‘bhakthi’ will ultimately give solace to the devotees. This is the quintessence of the Kapilopadesam,’’ he said. The second day’s recital was rounded up on Tuesday evening with a detailed discourse on the Puranjanopaakhyanam. Following the decades-old Vaisakha Sapthaham tradition at the temple, Thottam Vasudevan Nampoothiry (Shyam) is now the Acharyan of the fourth Sapthaham. He has taken over the responsibility of continuing the unique hereditary right from his father Thottam Krishnan Nampoothiry whose soul attained the lotus feet of Lord Guruvayurappan a couple of years ago. Thottam Vasudevan Nampoothriy began the Sapthaham with the recital of Sreemad Bhagavatha Mahatmyam and a discourse on it on Sunday evening. He is being assisted by Meledam Narayanan Nampoothiry and Cheruvakkad Krishnan Nampoothiry in the worship of Lord Guruvayurappa with Srimad Bhagavatham. The first day of the Sapthaham had concluded with the recital and discourse on the incarnation of the supreme Lord as Varaha Moorthy. The second day began with the recital of the chapter delineating the incarnation of the Lord as Kapilamoorthy and the Kapilopadesam. This was followed by the recital of Dakhayagam, Dhruvacharitham, Prudhu Charitham and Puranjanopakhyanam. This set the scenario for Rishabhaavathaaram. The Sapthaham will conclude on Sunday, the last day of this year’s Vaisakha month, with the Sapthaha Samarpanam after the recital of the 12th and 13th chapters of Canto XII of Srimad Bhagavatham and the Sree Krishn Avatharam (incarnation of Lord Krishna), Chapter III of Canto X.
