A young man from Gadag in Karnataka is making waves with his remarkable ability to climb coconut trees upside down, drawing comparisons to the beloved Marvel superhero Spiderman. Ishwar Jidagannavar, a 22-year-old resident of Shirahatti, has always been drawn to scaling buildings since his early years. Now, he aims to secure a place in both the Limca Book of Records and the Guinness World Records with his extraordinary talent.
Ishwar’s unique approach to tree climbing has captivated onlookers, especially considering that many climbers struggle to ascend 40 to 50-foot-tall coconut trees conventionally. His videos showcasing his upside-down coconut tree climbs have garnered significant attention on social media, showcasing his exceptional skill and daring spirit.
The idea to attempt upside-down climbing came to Ishwar when he spotted a tree and envisioned himself scaling it head down. Drawing from his years of experience climbing buildings, he decided to give it a try, eventually mastering the seemingly impossible feat. Now, he regularly engages in upside-down climbing, pushing the boundaries of what is considered achievable.
Initially, Ishwar’s attempts were modest, reaching heights of fifteen feet before descending. However, after two years of dedicated practice, he successfully scaled 50-foot-tall coconut trees. This accomplishment is particularly impressive given the smooth and slippery surface of coconut tree trunks, which pose significant challenges for climbers. Despite the inherent risks, Ishwar eschews safety gear like ropes, relying solely on his bare hands and remarkable agility.
Undeterred by warnings from friends about the dangers involved, Ishwar is determined to pursue his passion and dreams of achieving the same level of renown as Kothi Raju, the famed climber known as the ‘Spiderman of Karnataka.’ Inspired by Kothi Raju’s fearless ascent of the Chitradurga Fort without safety harnesses, Ishwar sees him as a role model and aims to leave his mark in the world of daredevil climbing.
Much like Kothi Raju, who climbs not for sport but to entertain visitors to the fort, Ishwar sees his climbing feats as a form of entertainment and an example of human potential. With his unwavering determination and remarkable talent, Ishwar is poised to carve out his legacy as a daredevil climber, captivating audiences and inspiring awe with each daring ascent.
