TIRUNELVELI: The indefinite fast demanding shutdown of Koodankulam Nuclear Power Project (KKNPP) entered the fourth day at Idintakarai in Tirunelveli district on Wednesday. The Health condition of 14 protesters has started deteriorating as on Wednesday evening. The 127 protesters, who embarked on the hunger strike from Sunday morning in front of Lorudu Madha Church at Indinthakarai coastal village near Koodankulam, have found support from several quarters. A large number of villagers, mainly women from Idintakarai and nearby areas, sat with the protesters to extend their support. Shops remained closed; students assembled at the protest site to express their solidarity; bus services were stopped to Idintakarai, Prominent leaders like Bala Prajapathi Adigal, Nadar Peravai leader Kaikolraj former minister Dhanushkodi Adithan and Nam Tamilar Katchi founder Seeman turned up to observe fast. Dr SK Velraj said that 10 protesters who taken ill on Tuesday were given intravenous fluids. On Wednesday 4 protesters fell ill while 3 of them collapsed. Condition of one protester, Chitra (32), was near critical.
