BANGALORE: Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president Dr G Parameshwar criticised State Bar Council president B Subba Reddy for allegedly declining to represent journalists in court. “Such a practice is not only unethical, but also undemocratic,” he addressed the media here on Monday.Pointing out that when Indian advocates have appeared for Mumbai blasts prime accused Ajmal Kasab, he appealed to Bar Council Chairman Subba Reddy — also a BJP member —  not to air his party’s views.“If the reports that the Bar Council has decided against representing journalists in courts are true, we will direct members of our legal cell to disobey it,” he added.Describing journalism and law as noble professions, Parameshwar urged the two communities to shun the path of confrontation and work in harmony. He also appealed to representatives of the two professions to come together and sort out their differences, if any, by holding talks. “The Bar Council should take an initiative in this regard,” he added.Parameshwar, while demanding the state government to order a judicial inquiry headed by a sitting High Court judge or a CBI probe into the episode, expressed regret that the issue was being politicised.“Some vested interests were behind the ugly incident... truth will come out only through a fair inquiry,” he added. He criticised the state government for its various lapses in matters relating to governance, including in the intelligence department.
