The dissidence brewing within the state Congress came to fore when a copy Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president G Parameshwar’s to KPCC treasurer Shamanur Shivashankarappa was made public here on Monday.
In the letter, he took exception to the continued absence of the veteran Congress leader and the KPCC treasurer Shamanur Shivashankarappa, in the crucial party meetings convened by the state unit.
In a letter sent on September 7 to KPCC treasurer Shamanur Shivashankarappa, serious objections were taken to his absence from an office bearers meeting on August 27 . “As it is an election year, your absence in the above meeting is of very serious nature” Dr Parameshwar had stated in his letter.
Dr Parameshwar had also told Shivashankarappa that in case he is unable to spare time for party work alternative arrangements would be made.
Speaking to Express, the AICC general secretary and state party in-charge Madhusudan Mistry, however played down the issue. He said, “The KPCC president has not served any notice to Shamanur Shivashankarappa. It’s only a routine matter wherein the party president seems to have written a letter appealing to extend cooperation and help in building the party organisation” Mistry said.
