New Delhi: Railway Minister Lalu Prasad is at his management best again. After being invited by a top business school to lecture on the turnaround of the loss-making railways, Lalu bowled over a group of MBA students from the US on Friday with his 'management skills'.
The students, who were from the Universities of Texas and Virginia and who had come to learn how Lalu had managed to turn the Indian Railways into a success story had a surprise in store for them - job offers in the Indian Railways courtesy the Railway Minister.
According to news agency PTI, during the 50-minute interaction at New Delhi's Railway Museum, Lalu shared his "success story" and told the guests, many of them Indians, in a mix of Hindi, English and Bhojpuri that there is no "magic wand" in his hand and it all happened because of the hardwork of his employees.
"He put it all on the employees. He said he does not deserve all the credit and it was the effort of around 14 lakh employees that saved the railways from breaking down," Texas University student Omar Ghalayini was quoted by PTI as saying.
The students were very flattered with the Indian hospitality extended to them and the job offers.
"I told them that when Lord Krishna lifted Govardhan he got the help of thousands of villagers. The railways is like a family and if it is reaping profits now it is because of the hard work of employees," Lalu was quoted by PTI as saying.
