New Delhi: The trailer of 'Chittagong Strike One' is out and actor Manoj Bajpai is back as iconic freedom fighter Surya Sen aka 'Masterda' in director/producer Bedabrato Pain's period drama based on the Chittagong armoury raid of 1930.

The film, co-directed and co-produced by US-based filmmaker Shonali Bose, stars Manoj Bajpai, Barry John and Delzad Hiwale.

Shonali Bose, who shot to fame with the film 'Amu' and is married to Pain, brings to life the story of freedom fighter Sen who engineered the famous Chittagong uprising of 1930, was arrested and tortured by the British police before being hanged to death.

Bose worked for a year as an organizer at the National Lawyer's Guild, and directed live community television in Manhattan before embarking on the MFA Directing Program at UCLA's School of Theatre, Film, and Television.

Her short narrative films (The Gendarme Is Here and Undocumented) and her feature-length documentary (Lifting the Veil) have screened in festivals and other venues throughout the world.

Set against the backdrop of a little known incident in 1930s colonial India, a group of schoolboys and young women, led by a schoolteacher, Masterda Surya Sen, dare to take on the Empire. Chittagong is the story of a diffident 14 year old boy, Jhunku (Delzad Hiwale).

With the release of the 'Chittagong: Strike One' trailer, Bajpai reprises a role played in 2010 by Abhishek Bachchan in the film on the same subject 'Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey'. KHJJS was directed by Ashutosh Gowariker, and stared beside Bachchan, Deepika Padukone.

Pain is also a playwright, singer and activist.
