BHUBANESWAR: The State Election Commission (SEC) has postponed elections in 13 booths of Nakamamudi gram panchayat in Kudumulugumma block of Malkangiri district following landmine blast by Maoists. The blast claimed four BSF personnel. The polling, which was to be held on Saturday, has been postponed to February 19. The booths where polling has been postponed include Majhiguda, Community Centre, Godenpadar Water Harvesting Structure office building, Nilapari Primary School, Nakamamudi Upgraded ME School-1, Nakamamudi Upgraded ME School-2, Khadika Jhodi Community Centre, Dyke Three Primary School, Damodarbeda Primary School, Bayapada Primary School, Khajuripada temporary booth, Bakuli Community Centre, Mudulipada gram panchayat godown and Radha temporary booth. Polling would have been held in 359 booths of Malkangiri district in the first phase. According to the SEC, polling will be held in rest 346 booths. All the 13 booths, where elections have been postponed, are in Malkangiri Zilla Parishad Zone 4. According to the SEC release, the polling parties for these booths would have passed by the road where explosion occurred.
