BAGNALORE: When several people use their children’s wedding to flaunt their wealth, the City witnessed a wedding of a different kind today. City-based businessman Syed Zabar’s daughter entered into wedlock along with 30 other couples in a mass wedding on Saturday.The bride’s uncle Shaik Ahmed told Express that his elder niece’s wedding was conducted in a mass marriage ceremony last year. Similarly, her younger sister’s wedding too was performed in a similar manner on Saturday.“We gave utensils, one cupboard, one cot and some clothes to all couples who are starting a new life on Saturday. When we die, we will not take any material thing with us. It is a good deed to conduct a marriage like this,” he added. The family had arranged for food for all relatives of the couples and there was no cap on the number of people to be invited.When questioned about the daughter’s in-laws’ reaction to the mass wedding, Shaik said their family too were happy to be part of this celebration and he had only words of praise for their cooperation.
