Mayor inspects modern bus shelter installation

CHENNAI: Continuing his daily inspection drives in the city, Mayor M Subramanian on Tuesday inspected the installation of modern steel bus shelter at College Road near the well-known eye hospital Sankara Nethralaya. Speaking to reporters during inspection, Subramanian said, “Chennai Corporation has 741 bus shelters in the city and modernisation of 99 bus shelters among them under built-operate-transfer (BOT) scheme are on.” “Of the 99 shelters, modernisation of 25 shelters by installing steel has been already completed and installation works at the rest of it are progressing well,” the Mayor said. Besides, tenders were called for modernising the remaining 642 bus shelters in the city, he added.
