Metro Rail dreams sprout fresh wings

KOCHI: The Metro Rail will pave the way for a big thrust in the infrastructure development of the state, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said on Saturday after officially launching the work of the metro related project. The first project will be the construction of a new rail overbridge at Salim Rajan Road.Chandy said the launch of the metro rail related projects is the first successful step towards fulfilling the Metro Rail dream.He said apart from the construction of the north and south rail overbridges some four decades ago, no major infrastructure projects were implemented in Kochi. The Metro Rail and related projects will play a major role in easing the traffic woes of the city.
