WARANGAL: Doctors at the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial (MGM) Hospital here launched a flash strike on Friday and boycotted duties in the casualty and in-patient wings.A patient, Yadagiri (50), died while undergoing treatment for chest pain in the wee hours of Friday and doctors gave a certificate to his family members confirming his death. Soon they took away the body but returned to the hospital after an hour alleging that Yadagiri died due to negligence.Further, they even hit casualty medical officer Dr Phanindra.Alleging that Vardhannapet MLA K Sridhar too came to the hospital and abused them, doctors boycotted their duties and lodged a complaint against Yadagiri’s kin.They also resented the behaviour of the MLA.The doctors met district collector Rahul Bojja, SP Rajesh Kumar and demanded action against those who attacked them. The district officials held discussions with the doctors but could not pacify them even till late evening.The doctors threatened to stall services in private and government hospitals in Warangal district from Saturday.They said they would continue their strike till their demands were met.
