New Delhi: India's outgoing hockey coach Michael Nobbs has been asked to join National Institute of Sports (NIS) in Patiala to train coaches during the one-month notice period he is serving before returning to Australia.
Nobbs, who has been sacked by Sports Authority of India (SAI) as Indian men's hockey team's chief coach, will also be given a farewell by SAI at NIS, where he will teach those enrolled under various coaching programmes.
"Nobbs has a contract with us till next month, so we decided that we might as well utilize his services. We are sending him to Patiala where he will teach those under the hockey diploma programme and SAI's hockey coaches the finer aspects of the game," said Jiji Thomson, SAI's Director General.
"Hockey India will be organising a farewell ceremony for hockey coach Nobbs on Saturday," Thomson added.
Nobbs is expected to leave for Patiala on Friday. He will stay at NIS for the rest of his coaching stint, which ends on August 7.
