New Delhi: Microsoft's updated version of Office for desktop will be called Office 2016, and is expected to arrive in the second half of 2015.
Although the company is yet to reveal specific details about the software, it has announced that Office 2016 will be available later this year. "We will have more to share on Office 2016 in the coming months, but this suite will remain the comprehensive Office experience you're long familiar with" said Microsoft Office general manager Julia White.
Office 2016 will be optimized for Windows 10, the main announcement which came from Microsoft this week. In Word 2016, White said the 'Insights for Office' will bring additional online resources like images, web references and definitions to the user.
The next version of Office is rumoured to be similar to Office 2013 but with a darker theme, UI changes and some additional features like automatic image rotation, as well as new syncing options.
