Milk price hike: Court order challenged

KOCHI: A petition has been filed before the High Court of Kerala, challenging the Single Judge order to uphold Milma’s decision to hike the milk price by Rs. 5 per litre. The petitioner, Martin Paiva of Kaloor, sought a direction to quash the Single Judge order and said in the petition the price hike would cause irreparable loss and hardships to common man. The Single Judge, while considering a petition by Milma (Kerala Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation Ltd) against the state government’s intervention in the matter, had granted permission to go ahead with the decision to hike the price.
