Malayalam cinema is all set to have its first ever audio description movie. Audio description is something that is new to all of us. Its technology aims to make the film experience accessible to audiences whose vision and hearing abilities are impaired. The movie 'Best Wishes' is all set to be one such movie that will allow them to enjoy the film, irrespective of their physical challenges. 'Best Wishes' will be played in a normal film sound track coming through the cinemas surround sound speakers wherein the recorded narrator explains the scenes on the video. These dialogues can be heard through personal headphones attached to the seats. “Our team has talked to the concerned theatre authorities to make this facility available for a few seats.” The film itself is about those facing disabilities. The movie has a motivating story centered around them, and makes an attempt to create empathy. While the story, script, dialogue and direction are by Simon George, the movie is being produced by A  Abubakar under the banner of Deshasnehi Films. For all its social relevance, Simon clarifies that the film is a commercial one. “But it also attempts to change the attitude of people towards the physically challenged. People should have more confidence that they can lead socially active lives. Sympathy alone cannot help," he says. As many as two thousand physically challenged people are a part of the film, which has actors Nishan and Bhama playing the lead roles. The director himself, a differently abled person, says it was by seeing the problems faced by people around him which motivated and inspired him to start an organisation. This laid the stone for Prathyasha Foundation, an NGO which guides and supports the physically challenged. It provides them with good education, job opportunities and many of them are also happily settled in matrimony. While heading the organisation,Simon naturally got a close view of the problems confronted by the inmates, and that gave him the inspiration for the story he finally came up with for 'Best Wishes'Yet, it took five years before the project could kick-start. The audience can look forward to a blend of romance, comedy and suspense in 'Best Wishes'. “No one realises the loneliness and sufferings of the physically impaired. People take their condition for granted by saying that it is  their fate. Mind you, this is something which can happen to any one of us, so let's not be judgmental. Ten per cent of India's population is physically challenged and unfortunately rehabilitation initiatives taken by the Government is very little” says [email protected]
