New Delhi: Makers of Lage Raho Munna Bhai, the film which brought Mahatma Gandhiji back as a fashion icon for the younger generation, got a support from a lawmaker.
Congress MP from Rajya Sabha, Shantaram Naik demanded that the filmmakers should be awarded the Padmashree on Republic Day.
In his special mention in Shantaram Naik of the Congress party said, "No books written on Gandhiji could make inroads into minds of teenagers with such ease as Lage Raho Munnabhai has. It is the duty of the Government to encourage such activities."
"The producer and director of Lage Raho Munnabhai should be awarded Padmashree on the occasion of the coming Republic Day," he added.
Vidhu Vinod Chopra is the producer of the movie starring Sanjay Dutt, Arshad Warsi and Vidya Balan while Raj Kumar Hirani is the director.
