Mumbai: There is trouble on Mumbai seas, the Coast Guard has dispatched a ship Samudra Prahari to help douse the fire on board a derelict ship, MV MOL Comfort. The ship, which caught fire on Saturday, was 365 nautical miles off the Mumbai coast.
The ship had broken into two parts on June 17 and one of the parts, which was being tugged by a salvage company caught fire during the rescue operations. The ship was carrying 1600 MT of fuel.
Coast Guard officials said the containers on board the forward derelict were in flames, with thick black smoke emanating from it. The derelict is presently being towed to Oman, officials said.
