Lokayukta Police caught a Khandwa Municipal Corporation clerk for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 3,000 from a woman employee on Monday, for preparing her pension papers.
Identified as Prakash Hathmode, the clerk had allegedly demanded Rs 10,000 from a woman employee named Anu Kanosia who will retire from service on December 31, to prepare her pension papers, Lokayukta Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) S L Kataria told reporters in Khandwa on Monday.
In order to ensure that she would get her pension on time, her daughter Ranjana approached the clerk, when he allegedly demanded Rs 10,000 to prepare her mother Anu's pension papers.
Later, Ranjana tipped-off the Lokayukta police, which laid a trap and caught Hathmode red-handed. A case under the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the accused who was arrested.
