BANGALORE: With the cumulative work put up by Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) and Bangalore Development Authority (BDA), namma city is all set to be part of an entertaining musical fountain and one of the biggest swimming pool in the city. Chief Minister Sadananda Gowda inaugurated the park along with Mayor Shardamma on January 30 at Matekari, JP Park Ward.Corporator of J P Park Ward, B R Nanjundappa, “I conceptualised the idea during my visit to Singapore and Mysore in the year 2004. We started having discussions on making it into reality from 2005 and finally started the work from 2010. The then Chief Minister Yediurappa laid the foundation.”Musical fountain and the swimming pool are the two biggest attractions of the park. The musical fountain was built by BDA with a budget of 7 crores, whereas, the swimming pool was constructed by BBMP engineers with a fund of 5 crores. BDA Executive Engineer B R Muddreju, said, “The musical fountain will be open for public from next week, every Saturday and Sunday, from 6 pm to 8pm.” He also added, “In the over all construction of the musical fountain, BDA had sponsored `2 crores, and rest was borne by the BBMP. The fountain covers an area of 50 meters in length and 30 meters width.”The swimming pool will conduct classes for which a coach has already been appointed. However, the timings and rates are not yet fixed. Nanjundappa added, “I also have plans to develop the water bodies in the ward, for which we have 28 acres of land. Two water bodies have sufficient water, other two needs to be dug more. It will be a rain water storage facility.” He further added, “I am also looking forward to develop a Sewage Treatment Plant. This project will take at least 1 year to kick start. From next month we will start inviting tenders, accordingly budget will be fixed.”As far as the entry fees are concerned, no fixed rate has been reached yet. MLA M Sreenivas and few members of opposition were also present at the inauguration event.
