BANGALORE: All metropolitan cities are on high-alert after the police seized a car with 5 kg of RDX in Ambala a day ago. Namma Bengaluru, too, needs to be cautious, given that big events are lined for the festive season, including the visit of Union government representatives and former President A P J Abdul Kalam.The city police are leaving no stone unturned to avoid any untoward incident in the city.“Though there is no specific threat to the city, we are still being cautious and general arrangements are being made for comprehensive security,” Additional Commissioner of Police (Law and order) T Suneel Kumar told Express.Kumar, who detailed about the security measures for the upcoming ‘Namma Metro’ project, said that the police will take consolidated measures to ensure security from all angles, three days prior to its inauguration.The metro is scheduled to be inaugurated on October 20 which would see the participation of Union ministers and other dignitaries from the state. Added to this, the Bangalore Metropolitan Rail Corporation is expecting over 50,000 people to attend the event.BMRCL officials said that they had sought ‘extensive arrangements’ from the police for that day.Speaking about arrangements for the Bangalore International Airport (BIA), he said that the city police would coordinate with the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) that is in charge of security there.BIA representatives, too, shared similar views and said that basic security was in place but refused to divulge on any special arrangements made for the city’s grand event on October 20.
