New Delhi: Naxalites blasted a TV transmission centre, a government guest house and an ex MLA's house in Visakhapatnam district of Andhra Pradesh on Thursday.

A band of armed extremists went to Chintapalli and blasted Doordarshan's TV transmission facility there using detonators and gelatin sticks. They then blew up the guesthouse belonging to the state Roads and Building Department there.

The Naxals also damaged an electricity sub-station and an ex MLA's house in the same area. They left propaganda material at the site.

K.R. Ramesh Kumar and R. Roshan Baig (Congress) on Wednesday cautioned the Government in the Legislative Assembly that the “encounter” killing of “naxalite”, instead of bringing them to justice, would generate sympathy for the movement and it would become difficult for it to control the menace.

They were speaking on the suo motu statement by Home Minister M.P. Prakash on the encounter at Menasinahadya in Chikmagalur district in which five “naxals” were gunned down.

Earlier, the Speaker Krishna disallowed an adjournment motion moved by the Leader of Opposition N. Dharam Singh.

While Ramesh Kumar termed it a serious violation of human rights, Mr. Baig advised the Government to handle the Naxalites tactfully.
