KARAIKAL: The Kailasanathar temple at Karaikal has been receiving a lot of patronage lately. Just last year, it was renovated, and the float festival was held after a hiatus of nearly four decades. And now, with the possible addition of a new car, the float festival will be celebrated with that much greater joy and fervour. This was conveyed by Karaikal south MLA AMH Nazeem, who said that the ninth day of the float festival involved the car festival. Speaking to reporters, he said, “There was no car last year when the float festival took place. During my tenure as the opposition leader, I appealed to the Pondy CM to take steps to get a car for the temple”. And added that on NR’s orders, the HR and CE commissioner had granted permission to the temple devasthanam to raise funds through public donation. Now, the task of constructing the car has been entrusted to Radhakrishnan Stahbathi of Karaikudi.
