HYDERABAD: Marching in tandem in their crisp uniforms, the more than 1000-strong batch of graduates of the National Industrial Security Academy at Hakimpet presented a lively sight for the crowd gathered on a cold Sunday morning.The clockwork precision of the marching trainees drew applause and admiration form their family members who had come to witness their induction into the Central Industrial Security Force. NISA director-general NR Das said it is the largest batch to graduate among all branches of Central Armed Police Forces in the country. Union minister of state for Home Affairs, Jitendra Singh, who was the guest of honour, said, “Terrorism and left-wing extremism pose a major threat and the youth are best equipped to protect the nation and its assets.” Among the 1,141 trainees who underwent a rigorous 53-week programme, only 22 hail from Andhra Pradesh. The candidates selected through Short Service Commission displayed high levels of academic accomplishment as 213 were post-graduates and five were LLBs. The award for best all-round performance and indoor activities was given to SI (executive) Subhash Bishnoi. The director general of NISA also announced strengthening of research and development centre at the academy to focus on aspects of security, development of devices for better screening of potential threats and on developing the know-how on explosives to serve their role better.CISF personnel are deputed to provide security to public sector units, airports and heritage structures.
