Neelam Katara had approached the apex court for the enhancement of punishment saying it was a case of honour killing and it should be a death penalty.

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Friday rejected Neelam Katara's plea on her son's murder. Neelam Katara had approached the apex court for the enhancement of punishment saying it was a case of honour killing and it should be a death penalty.

Convicts Vikas and Vishal Yadav are undergoing 25 years imprisonment in connection with this case.

Nitish Katara, a business executive, was abducted from a marriage party in Ghaziabad on the intervening night of February 16-17, 2002, and was later killed by the Yadav brothers. The Delhi high court had awarded life imprisonment to both.
