N-LIST facility launched at Pondy Varsity

PUDUCHERRY: Research scholars, academics and students as well as faculty of the Pondicherry University were all united in their joy over the university introducing the National Library and Information Infrastructure for Scholarly Content (N-LIST) facility for all its affiliated colleges.Vice-chancellor J A K Tareen announced the same at a function organised in connection with the launch of the N-LIST facility. Dr Jagdish Arora, director, INFLIBNET, Ahmedabad, launched the facility which will give  research scholars, academics, faculty members and students of colleges in the Union Territory of Puducherry access to more than 50,000 e-books and over 2,000 e-journals.Describing the 87 affiliated colleges as family members, Tareen said that it was equally important that the students of the affiliated colleges also be benefit from the facility.Hence a decision was taken to make the facility available to the affialiated colleges too.Tareen urged the students to make the maximum use of the facility and expand their knowledge base.The vice-chancellor, emphasising the importance of  mother tongue, asked the students to learn and follow English if they did not want to jeopardise their careers.Dr Jagdish Arora explained to the gathering as to how they could access the N-LIST with the help of a presentation. He said the facility would be open to private universities and colleges in the near future.He mentioned that the N-LIST website - - provided interface for eligible colleges to register online.The facility is being jointly executed by the UGC-INFONET Digital Library Consortium, INFLIBNET centre and the INDEST-AICTE Consortium, IIT Delhi.Prof M Ramadass, director, SEI and RR, Pondicherry University, also spoke on the occasion. Dr R Samyuktha, librarian of the university, welcomed the gathering.
