HYDERABAD: Despite the incessant rains, including two spells of heavy rains during the last two days, there have been no significant inflows into Osmansagar, Himayatsagar, Akkampally (Krishna), Singur and Manjira reservoirs. The combined storage capacity of the five reservoirs, which are a major source of drinking water to the city, is about 39.733 TMC. The present level is about 27.646 TMC. Nearly 35 to 40 million gallons of water per day (MGD) is supplied daily from the Osmansagar and Himayatsaga. Inflows into Manjeera that supplies 45 MGD have been negligible. However, Singur which supplies about 75 MGD, has been receiving good inflows. However, inflows into Manjeera that supplies 45 MGD have also been negligible. The present water level in Osmansagar is 1,782 feet as against the Full Reservoir Level (FTL) of 1790 feet. The present level of Himayatsagar is 1,755 feet as against the FTL level of 1,763 feet. While the storage capacity of Osmansagar is 3.900 TMC, it is now 2.418 TMC and Himayatsagar’s present level is 1.703 TMC as against its storage capacity of 2.967 TMC.
